Yummy Kids....

Sometimes while inhaling the best scent on God's green Earth, my kid's head, I kiss his neck like crazy. Then I sometimes lick him.

I'm not kidding.

When I was taking HypnoBirthing Classes during my first pregnancy we watched this nutty movie with this nutty guy talking about wanting to actually lick his child, he loved him that much.

Oh, did we make fun of him! Lick him??? What a weirdo.

Just like me.

I swear, my son, at 18 months is more delicious than ever. Mmmmm.

It makes me think about the innate desires we may have as parents. When I was 16, I worked at a zoo. I remember the zookeeper nonchalantly mentioning that if we didn't remove the daddy goat from the mommy and the new baby goat, that he would eat him.

Whaaaaat????

Spiders, fish, birds...some species have been known to actually eat their young!

Maybe that's why we use foods to describe our in-utero babies. Looks like a bean! Or, your baby is about as big as a peach. Or should be as big as a squash by now, right?

Why do we want to eat our babies?

Sometimes I just can't get close enough to my little toddler and kissing his perfect face just doesn't seem to be enough...

I've even heard myself say it about my friend's kids. "Look how sweet she is...I could just eat her up!"

Don't lie...if you're a mom, you've pretended to eat those feet and fingers on more than one occasion...I know you have!

Let's see, my mom calls me, "Honey." I call my son, "Sugar." My brother calls his daughter, "Pumpkin." My sister calls her son, "Nugget." Is this a coincidence? I don't think so...

Don't worry, you don't have to call social services or anything. My little Owen is safe from becoming my lunch.

But, he does smell so yummy. And he has those apple cheeks, and sweet candy lips...

I'm just sayin'...

La,

Cheri
